Holidays

At Temple Israel, holy days and festivals are wonderful times.  We are a community who pays close attention to hiddur mitvah, "enhancing the mitzvah" to make sure our observance is always carried out as beautifully as possible.  Our whole congregation pitches in to make every holiday special.  From flowers on the bimah to pumpkins in the sukkah, from the celebration of our redemption at the congregational Pesach seder to the miracle of lighting hundreds of candles together at our Hanukkah dinner, from the accomplished Torah and Haftarah readers at the High Holy Days to the falafel at Yom Ha'atzmaut, we sanctify together the moadim, the sacred seasons of the Jewish year.
